Unlocking Potential: The Benefits of Mobile Speech Therapy

At Bloom Speech Therapy, we offer quality mobile speech therapy services in Amsterdam and beyond. We are passionate about mobile therapy and believe it has so much to offer. Keep reading to find out how mobile therapy can help you/your child reach their goals.

1. Comfort

We find that clients are generally more comfortable in their home or school environment than in a clinical setting that is brand new to them. They have their own toys, items of interest and safe spaces that we already know work for them. This often leads to us being able to build rapport quicker and facilitate greater engagement in therapy activities.

2. Shorter Transition Times

Do you ever bring your child somewhere and find they need a long time to get used to the space, or won't even come into the space in the first place? And then, of course, they don't want to leave at the end? These challenges are greatly reduced with mobile services. Less time transitioning in and out of sessions means there is more time for meaningful therapy, so it is a win for all!

3. More Meaningful, Functional Activities and Goals

Do you ever get homework from teachers/therapists that involves toys you don't have at home? Or do you ever work on a goal outside the home that you then can't generalise to the home environment? With mobile therapy, we work with what you already have and set goals most appropriate for that setting, whether it be home, school or work. This facilitates better generalisation of progress and less thinking on your part about how to practise skills in that setting. It's easier to learn how to drive in your own car, right?

4. Convenience

Therapy at home, school or preschool means there is less time taken out of your week as you don't have to travel - we do! This allows you to still access all the benefits of therapy whilst having more time for other things. For example, if therapy is at home, you can duck out for a quick work Zoom call or get the other kids ready for school while one child is in the therapy session.

5. Collaboration

Some mobile therapy settings, such as preschool or school, allow therapists to work closely with your child's teachers. This is something that can be difficult outside of these settings but is so beneficial for therapy progress.
